Cahokia Sidenotch

These side notched arrowheads were found along the Fishing River. These are a classic example of the far reaching influence of the Cahokia culture (800-1,200AD) that spread from its origin in East St. Louis to the western most edge of Missouri. The Cahokia Culture is best known for its ceremonial mounds which are still in existence today. At its epicenter in what is now Collinsville Illinois, the Cahokia culture is believed to have hosted a city of as many as 40,000 people arond the turn of the millenium 1,000 AD.
